YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Harvest Concert performed by the Yakima Youth Symphony Orchestra and Yakima Ensemble for String took place on Sunday at The Seasons Performance Hall.
Yakima Ensemble for Strings was conducted by Christy Baisinger and the Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Bruce Walker.
Students from the symphony performed music by Italian composer, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, and ended their performance with a music piece from the musical Hamilton.
Walker said all of the pieces performed at the concert had an autumn theme.
He said there are 55 students in the symphony and 15 in the ensemble group.
Violinist, Dr. Hannah Leland was a Special Guest performer. She has participated at festivals like the Astoria Music Festival and the Oregon Coast Music Festival.
She currently just finished recording her album which will be released in spring 2018.
Leland had some tips for students who performed for the first time.
“I just want for students to enjoy their time on stage,” Leland said.
The next concert the Yakima Youth Symphony Orchestra and Yakima Ensemble for String will have is scheduled for December 10th at the Capitol Theater in Yakima.
