How To Avoid Potential Scams

The Kennewick Police are warning residents about a potential scam of individuals claming to be ADT employees.

The police say the two men show up at a residence stating that they are with ADT and need to work on the home security system.

Steve Gatherer an actual Residential Installer for ADT said anyone working on your security system will be in an ADT uniform; blue pants, a blue shirt with the ADT logo and when it is cold a blue ADT jacket.

Gatherer said installers arrive in clearly marked ADT cars and there should never be a situation when an ADT technician shows up at your residence unexpected.

The Kennewick Police are also warning about another scam involving a job posting on craigs list.

Two people looking for work answered a posting for a construction job at Steel Contractors of America.

They were asked to prepay about $200 for their training.

They did so but when they showed up for training no one at the location was expecting them or knew why they were there.
