Incident Summary: District 5 was dispatched to a reported controlled burn that was now out of control and had jumped the Yakima River.  Fire had started in the area of Florence road, near the river and jumped the river to the north on to Washington Fish and Game property.  The fire was wind driven and firefighting efforts were hampered by rough terrain and marsh areas of the game preserve.  Burnout operations were used to reduce the fire’s fuel load and slow the fire down.  A dozer line was put in to assist the burnout operations.  3-4 homes were threatened at one point during the fire.   The fire was contained at roughly 200 acres.   Property was turned back over to Fish and Wildlife personnel around 04:00 hours on 04-09-14 and would be monitored throughout the day by their personnel due to the fire still burning in areas near the river’s edge but was well inside the containment lines, there will be areas of trees torching out and pockets of unburned fuel igniting throughout the day.
