Fire Causes Significant Damage at Gallo Wine Facility Near Sunnyside

Property Owners: Gallo Winery

Incident Summary: Yakima County Fire District 5 was dispatched to a reported automatic fire alarm at a 300 Foot by 175 Foot concrete tilt up Wine Production Facility.   On the arrival of the first fire engine they reported finding pressurized smoke coming from the vents of the building.  Additional units were requested.  Firefighters forced entry into the building and found a fire in a mechanical room.  Fire appeared to have started around an air dryer system.  Fire was contained to the mechanical room.  Mechanical room had extensive heat and smoke damage.  Personnel from Gallo wine arrived and the building was turned over to them.  Fire does not appear to be suspicious but the fire marshal’s office will be contacted due to the high dollar loss.
