The sudden closure of Alfred Angelo's Bridal stores have left brides across the country upset and scrambling to find answers.
"They literally called me two days ago and said, 'Your slip is in. You can pick it up in August when your dress comes.' I thought it was a joke, I can't really believe it," customer Katie Kortuem told KTXL-TV outside a Roseville, California, store.
The Palm Beach Post reported Thursday that employees at Alfred Angelo's corporate office in Delray Beach, Florida, left en masse carrying boxes, plants and personal belongings.
An employee of a nearby company, who asked not to be named, told the Palm Beach Post, "Everyone left one-by-one with cardboard boxes, plants. One of them said they were all fired today."
Three miles from the corporate headquarters, employees locked the doors at the Boynton Beach location as customers came and left the store.
Jessica Irsay, of Boynton Beach, told the Palm Beach Post that employees told her if her preordered bridesmaid dress wasn't at the store, it wasn't coming.
The website said the company's wedding, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses are available at over 1,400 retailers in the U.S. and worldwide, as well as more than 60 Alfred Angelo Bridal Signature stores in the U.S.
The Sun Sentinel reported the company hired Stearns, Weaver Miller law firm in Miami to represent them. Clerks at U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida said nothing had been filed as of Friday morning.
David's Bridal posted an offer on its website to help out people impacted by the closure.
