Online public school helping students pursue academics

YAKIMA, Wash. - Most students are already back to school, but others have returned via computer.

Insight School of Washington is an online public school helping students like Kevin Colin in Yakima.

With the program, the musician is able to tour the world and hit the books at the same time.

ISWA goes through the Quillayute Valley School District, entirely online.

It allows students grades 9-12 across the state to pursue academics on their own schedules.

"If it wasn't for Insight I would have to choose and I think for me it would have been the best to just go with music and take time off but you know my parents wouldn't think that was the best choice because school is always going to be important,” said Kevin Colin, an Insight student and musician.

Enrollment is still open for the 2017-2018 school year.
