SWAT standoff on the South Hill in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. (KXLY) - A SWAT standoff occurred around 9 a.m. on Friday as police were called to a house on 1200 block of W. 17th Ave in Spokane because of an assault.

When they got there, the suspect, 34-year-old Steven G. Serpa, refused to come out of the house.

A search warrant was obtained, and the SWAT team conducted a search of the house. Around 2:00 p.m., police sent in a K9, and the man was found hiding in the rafters. 

The man appeared to be bloody from an interaction with the K9.

The suspect was taken into custody, and will be booked on charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment.
