Richland High School students are donating 15 backpacks full of school supplies toward underprivileged foster kids.
The National Honor Society, Key Club and AP Physics students at the school worked together to collect enough school supplies to fill them up.
They gathered notebooks, pencils, clothing, blankets and other personal supplies for kids of all ages.
The backpacks will be donated to Teytum’s Gifts, a nonprofit in Yakima that helps foster children.
Students will be donating the supplies during the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) Fall Conference in Yakima, which is being held at Eisenhower High School from Oct. 13 to 15.
Thousands of students from all over the state are participating in the conference, presenting a number of different community service projects. .
Washington has over 10,000 children who are currently in foster care.
