Foster care brothers to undergo psychiatric evaluation after assaulting principal

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - Police are now releasing the mug shot of one of the foster care brothers involved in the attack on the John Sager Middle School Principle.

Police say, Dale Stopperan, was assaulted by two college place high school students last Thursday.

Police released this picture of 18-year-old Jaymond Oakhurst, and say he and his 16-year-old brother Lamont broke into the administrative office with a metal spear and wooden club to carry out their attack on the principal.

Stopperan sustained serious injuries to his face and body, but he's now back to work.

Both brothers are charged with assault and malicious mischief, however, a trial date hasn't been set yet.

"The supreme court judge entered an order for a competency evaluation so their competency to stand trial and be involved in any further proceedings will need to be evaluated first," College Place Prosecuting Attorney Jim Nagel said.

The psychiatric evaluation will be conducted by experts, while both brothers remain in custody.

Police think the two foster care brothers attacked Stopperan to get custody of their younger sister who was a student at the middle school.

Since the surveillance video of the attack is considered a student record police will not release it.

We reached out to the College Place School District, which says it is not changing any school policies.
