13-year-old struck by SUV at crosswalk in Selah

SELAH, Wash. — A 13-year-old boy was injured after being hit by an SUV while walking in a crosswalk Thursday morning.

Selah police say the boy was crossing North First Street at West Fremont Avenue at about 7:55 a.m. when he was hit. He was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived.

The boy complained of pain in the face and left side of his body and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

The driver told police the SUV was making a right turn onto First Street and didn’t see the boy.

The crash is still under investigation.

The Selah Police Department is urging drivers to be alert and watch out for pedestrians and other vehicles while driving.
