2 arrested for cashing checks stolen from mailbox in Tri-Cities area, deputies say

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Benton County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people who allegedly cashed checks that they stole from someone’s mailbox.

Jamie Spain, 47, and Carma Jones, 44, were identified as suspects in the case with help from the Kennewick and Pasco police departments, deputies said.

The two are residents of the Spokane area and both had multiple outstanding warrants for their arrest.

Detectives found where Jones was selling items on Facebook Marketplace and set up a meeting with Jones and Spain in the Kohl’s parking lot.

Jones and Spain were arrested and booked at the Benton County Jail on their warrants and new charges
