2 children hit in crosswalk by alleged drunk driver in Pasco

PASCO, Wash. — Two girls were rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car. The person behind the wheel was allegedly under the influence.

The children were in a crosswalk near Lewis Street and Ninth Avenue around 8:15 Saturday night before being hit, Pasco Police said.

The driver was going west and hit the children in the crosswalk. Authorities told KAPP-KVEW they got to the scene and found both girls laying in the area. While their ages are not being disclosed, police say one is a teen and the other is younger.

They were both rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries. However, police say one child is in serious condition.

Officers say the driver, who has not been identified yet, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.
