Two people were hospitalized in a rollover crash on Interstate 82 near the Oregon-Washington border Thursday morning.

Shavon Newton, 20, was driving a 2001 Mazda Tribute with Alton Helton, 51, in the passenger seat when she lost control and rolled off the right shoulder of the freeway in Benton County, about two miles from the state line.

The Washington State Patrol was called to the scene at about 7:50 a.m. where they found the vehicle on its top. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver and her passenger, both from Hermiston, were transported to Trios Health.

Both of them were wearing a seatbelt and drugs or alcohol were not involved.

The state patrol is recommending a charge of negligent driving.
