3 Yakima County jail inmates test negative for COVID-19, another inmate being tested
YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima County Department of Corrections has reported that three inmates who were tested for the novel coronavirus have received negative test results and their quarantine has been lifted.
However, another inmate is being tested. A day before the test results, another inmate was sent to the hospital for chest pain. The inmate went to the hospital for upper respiratory issues.
The man was examined by the hospital and received a COVID-19 test, which should be back in a few days. The inmate is in isolation in a negative airflow unit on the second floor until results come back, the DOC said.
“Yakima County Department of Corrections Officials continue to follow Yakima County Health Department, the Washington State Health Department and Center for Disease Control Guidelines for the care of inmates, staff and the public,” DOC officials said. “Inmates names will not be released following HIPPA compliance guidelines.”
