4 injured in crash involving deputy on Highway 97 in Chelan County
ENTIAT, Wash. – Four people were injured when a driver lost control and slid into an oncoming deputy’s patrol vehicle in Chelan County on Monday morning.
Deputies said the driver of a Ford Explorer was traveling southbound in Highway 97 just north of Entiat before losing control, crossing the center line and colliding with a northbound Chelan County patrol vehicle around 7 a.m.
The driver and two passengers of the Explorer were transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee with “potentially serious injuries.” The deputy was taken to the same hospital but with minor injuries.
Winter weather and icy road conditions appear to be factors in the crash. The Washington State Patrol is handling the investigation.
The roadway was closed while troopers investigated. It has since reopened.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging drivers to “exercise all precautions” when driving in winter weather conditions.
