6-year-old girl struck, killed while waiting for school bus in Wisconsin

PLAINFIELD, Wis. — A kindergarten student was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning while waiting for a school bus near Plainfield, Wisconsin.

Several students were waiting to board the bus around 7:15 a.m. on Highway 73 southeast of Plainfield when the crash happened, according to a release by Anthony Marinack the District Administrator for Tri-County Area Schools.

The vehicle involved in the crash was traveling in the same direction of the stopped bus. Th e bus also had its lights activated at the time of the crash, Marinack said.

A six-year-old girl died after being hit by the vehicle, the release said. Officials said the girl’s four-year-old sister was injured and taken to a hospital.

The four-year-old was later released from medical care with minor injuries and returned home to her family for recovery.
