A bomb detonates in Port Hadlock, wounding a 6-year-old
PORT HADLOCK, Wash. (KAPP-KVEW) Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday around 9:40 p.m.; they received numerous reports of loud explosions, smoke, and large flames near the 700 block of Nesses Corner Road.
Deputies said they heard reports of a man with a chest injury and a fully amputated left arm. When first responders arrived, they found a structure on fire, a victim/suspect bleeding from the blast (who was airlifted to Harborview), and a 6-year-old girl (identified as the grandchild of the suspect) with burns to her head, according to the release.
Detectives, FBI, and WSP bomb squad searched the property with a warrant, and according to police, they found “evidence of manufacturing explosives such as handmade pipe bombs and improvised devices within the outbuilding.”
Charges are expected as the investigation continues.
