Active-duty Walla Walla County K-9 dies unexpectedly
WALLA WALLA COUNTY, Wash. — An active duty K-9 dog with the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office has died.
K-9 Gudy has been with the sheriff’s office for the past six years, working with Sgt. Dale Preas since 2012.
He was born in Slovakia on Sept. 21, 2009 and received his initial training in the Czech Republic before being sent to the United States. He was purchased by the sheriff’s office with donated funds.
On Wednseday, the sheriff’s office said K-9 Gudy was taken to Washington State University’s Veterinary Hospital where he passed away.
“K-9 Gudy was a tremendous asset to the Sheriff’s Office and our community. He is credited with helping to make our county safer by tracking and locating numerous criminals throughout his six years of service,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Sgt. Preas said he was “the best partner a guy could have.”
