After 25 years the Luminaria candle-lit walk still brings hundreds to the Yakima Arboretum
YAKIMA, Wash. — Hundreds are expected to attend the Yakima Arboretum Annual Luminaria candle-lit walk.
This free 2-day event started on Friday and will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight.
The Luminaria is a .8 mile candle-lit walk, lit by thousands of candles that goes around the arboretum. The walk started over 25 years as a way to kick off the holiday season.
Jeff Johnson attended the Luminaria with his family as a way to celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary.
“We really wanted to come back here because we got married at the Japanese Garden, and the walk was just beautiful,” said Johnson.
The Yakima Transit is offering free shuttle rides to the arboretum from the K-Mart parking lot.
To avoid traffic, parking is not allowed at the arboretum.
