Air Force General Makes Homecoming Visit
Retired Air Force General Parke Hinman visits his hometown of Yakima this afternoon.
Hinman spoke before the rotary club — he was born and raised in the Yakima Valley before attending college at Washington State University.
From there, he joined the Air Force, working his way up to Brigadier General, before retiring in the mid 90’s.
Hinman shared his story with rotary club members and expressed how the military gave him direction in life.
“I feel like the military saved my life,” said Hinman, “The military gave me direction, gave me discipline, gave me a sense of honor, integrity and all those things I talked about today.”
Hinman says he flew over 350 combat missions as a forward air controller during vietnam.
