Alleged packages thieves busted in Walla Walla
WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Walla Walla police busted a pair of alleged package thieves Wednesday afternoon.
Azucena Gomez-Villapando, 24, and Christofer Lopez Vasquez, 24 are suspected of swiping packages from at least three homes starting at 7:50 a.m., according to Walla Walla police spokesman Kevin Brahman.
Eventually, a witness spotted a tan Nissan Altima with a missing hubcap that was seen near one of the victims’ homes and described the car to police.
At about 3:45 p.m., police found the Nissan and conducted a traffic stop on North Wilbur Avenue. They arrested the Vasquez and Gomez-Villapando and seized their vehicle, Brahman said.
After getting a search warrant for the car, officers found a shotgun along with the stolen packages.
Gomez-Villapando was arrested for two counts of third-degree theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, use of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of stolen property.
Vasquez was arrested for complicity to third-degree theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.
