Arrest made in Nov. 2018 fatal hit-and-run crash of Pasco father
PASCO, Wash. — Washington State Patrol has been searching for the driver who killed Martin Perez Garcia, a Pasco father. Nearly a year later, an arrest is made.
Investigators booked Sergio Garin-Villalobos, 32, into the Franklin County Jail. According to jail records, he was booked Thursday night for hit-and-run involving death.
On Nov. 4, Garcia was walking home on the eastbound shoulder of the State Route 395 on-ramp. Troopers say he was hit by a truck near Argent Road, which left the scene.
Someone saw Garcia’s body on the side of the road hours later. All that was left behind from the suspected driver was a fog lamp.
According to WSP, they received an anonymous tip that led them to the Garin-Villalobos, nearly a year later. WSP Sgt. Darren Wright said they found evidence through a search warrant, linking him to the crime.
It was originally reported that investigators were looking for a Chevy Blazer. However, a search warrant led WSP to the front-end of an S-10 Chevy pickup truck, which was found during Garin-Villalobos’s arrest. Warren said it’s the same as a Blazer.
Garin-Villalobos was arrested near Vancouver and brought back to Franklin County.
“It’s tips like this that considerably help us and bring closure to the victims,” Warren said.
Jail records show Garin-Villalobos is being held on a 72-hour investigative hold.
