Kennewick assault victim linked to possession of stolen vehicle, outstanding warrants

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Kennewick Police Department arrested a man for possession of a stolen vehicle and several felony warrants relating to vehicle thefts and residential burglary.
In a post to social media, KPD says officers responded to a report of an assault in progress around 12:40 p.m. Saturday, June 11. It was reported that a man was being assaulted by several individuals in the area of W 4th Ave and S Rainier.
An officer had previously identified Jose Torres, also known as “Big Bird,” as the driver of a stolen vehicle. His clothing matched the description of the man being assaulted.
Police say Torres ran away when officers arrived. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Torres has been booked into Benton County Jail.
An investigation into the assault is ongoing.
