Avelo Airlines takes flight from Tri-Cities Airport for the first time

PASCO, Wash. — After weeks of anticipation, Avelo Airlines began operating flights between Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) on Thursday morning.

KAPP-KVEW’s Dru Miller was on-location for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the first arrival of an Avelo plane from Bob Hope Airport. That flight arrived shortly after 10:15 a.m. on April 29 and was scheduled for a return flight around 11 a.m., completing the first round-trip cycle between the two airports.

Currently, Avelo airlines operates out of Burbank with 11 separate destinations across the Western United States. Yesterday, the airline took its first flight ever from Burbank to Santa Rosa. This is the first new airline to take flight since Virgin America launched in 2007.

Avelo Founder, Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy is excited to provide a direct route between the Tri-Cities and California.

“The modern and convenient Tri-Cities Airport is the largest in the Southeastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon region, and we are excited to offer additional service to meet the proven demand to and from the area,” Levy said.

Avelo is aiming to provide travel between destinations that would otherwise be more difficult to navigate. While the pandemic forced the airline to pivot and delay its launch by about six months, it’s up and running in the Tri-Cities today. Their 11 non-stop routes include the following destinations:

  • Arcata/Eureka, CA
  • Bend/Redmond, OR
  • Bozeman, MT
  • Eugene, OR
  • Grand Junction, CO
  • Medford, OR
  • Pasco, WA
  • Phoenix/Mesa, AZ
  • Odgen, UT
  • Redding, CA
  • Santa Rosa, CA

To start, Avelo Airlines will fly between Burbank and Pasco three times per week with tickets starting as low as just $19. Adding this airline to a competitive space will provide a more affordable travel option for Tri-Citians looking to visit Los Angeles County without breaking the bank.

Bob Hope Airport is an alternative to the infamous Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which connects flights throughout the world. Since LAX is a worldwide hub, traffic leaving the airport can be detrimental to travelers’ commutes. Flying into Bob Hope Airport, which is located in North Hollywood, gives travelers a chance to step off their airplane and into the world of upscale Los Angeles County.

Tickets are available exclusively through the airline’s website for the time being, which you can visit by clicking here.
