BCSO investigating homicide in east Kennewick; no suspect identified

UPDATE at 8:45 p.m. on 4/22/22: The Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is currently investigating a homicide in east Kennewick. No suspect has been identified.

BCSO reports that deputies were dispatched to the 1100-block of South Gum Street just after 5 p.m. on Friday evening for reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officials found a man dead in front of what BCSO believe to be his home.

Neighbors in the area say they saw a suspect run off on foot. BCSO conducted a K9 search, but did not find a trail. BCSO is working with neighbors to get a description of a potential suspect in the homicide case.

According to BCSO, it’s still really early in the investigation, and too soon to tell a lot of details. However initial reports only indicated an assault, and no gun shots were reported in the area.

Officials expected to have streets around the scene closed for several hours while officials investigated the crime scene and gather more information.

BCSO Sheriff Croskrey says they are working to secure the area.

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Local law enforcement is at the scene of an unspecified situation unfolding on the 1200-block of S Gum St in Kennewick on Friday evening.

Crews from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Kennewick Police Department are spotted moving between houses, according to KAPP-KVEW’s reporters at the scene of the incident.

K9 units are also on the scene searching for a possible suspect. Officials are asking community members to avoid the area while the situation unfolds.
