BENTON COUNTY, Wash. —A 41-year-old man was convicted of five charges relating to the sexual abuse of a child.

On Wednesday, June 1, Nicholas Miller was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child in the first degree, one count of rape of a child in the second degree, one count of child molestation in the first degree and one count of child molestation in the second degree.

According to the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office, the jury determined all five counts were aggravated, since Miller abused his position of trust with a 15-year-old victim over a prolonged period of time.

The 15-year-old victim testified in court about the abuse experienced between the ages of nine and 12.

The Richland Police Department investigated the case and provided assistance throughout the trial. The Benton County Prosecutor’s Office specifically thanks former Detective Luke Flohr and Detective Sam Grant for their work on the case.

Prosecutor’s office victim/witness staff member, Synthia Alcantar, was also noted for her help with scheduling the victim and witnesses for the trial. The Prosecutor’s Office adds trial attorney Anita Petra spent many hours preparing the case.
