Benton County teenager crashed car while using cell phone
KENNEWICK, Wash. — A distracted teenager looked away from the road while driving with a group of people in their vehicle and lost control of the car on the outskirts of Kennewick on Monday night.
According to a social media post from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Clearview Loop for reports that a group of teens veered off the roadway into a large rock garden.
When they arrived, authorities confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the accident. Through a brief investigation, they learned that the driver was on their cell phone at the time of the accident.
No further details were made available at this stage. It’s unclear what repercussions the responsible driver might face.
