Benton-Franklin Humane Society offering 1/2 off animals with black fur for Black Friday
KENNEWICK, Wash. — Retail stores aren’t the only ones offering Black Friday sales this week. The Benton-Franklin Humane Society is joining in.
Adoption fees for both dogs and cats with even a hint of black fur will be half-off. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the doors will be open. Adoption fees will vary based on the age of the animal.
“People have other things on their minds, and we want to remind them these guys are still here,” said Elizabeth Lech, Volunteer Coordinator for BFHS. “And your home is going to be extra warm and fuzzy over the holidays with families there and it’s just really a great time to just add an additional family member to your home.”
They’re housing quite a few black cats and about 11 black dogs. Lech said many of the animals are in the owner-surrender facility due to issues the animals may have.
“It’s not so much the color of their fur with these cases,” Lech explained. “Either black, white, brown, brindle — it’s that they’re having some behavioral issues.”
Also on Black Friday, the society will be putting up their Giving Tree. It’ll have ornaments with adoptable animals on them. They’ll have suggestions for what you can donate to the shelter.
Coming up next month is the society’s “Snuggle Express.” For a donation of $250, they’ll come visit you with puppies or kittens for 30 minutes or an hour for $500. The money goes right back into the humane society.
The event will be Dec. 12-13 and 19-20
