Benton PUD asking customers to round up their change to help others with electric bill
KENNEWICK, Wash. — Benton PUD wants to help those struggling to pay their electricity bills during the winter months.
The program is called Round Up for Helping Hands. On average, monthly bills are $119. Customers can round up their change to the nearest dollar on their bill. Donations are distributed by Community Actions Connections, which will determine who needs help with their bill based on certain guidelines.
“Our customers are very generous. This is demonstrated during our annual holiday promotion and throughout the entire year,” said Christie McAloon, Customer Service Manager in a press release. “In 2018, 334 families in our community received much-needed assistance with their electric bills.”
Customers can also add a specific amount to their bill or a one-time fee to their next bill. Donations are tax-deductible.
To enroll, you can contact customer service or visit their website.
Benton PUD will add a display in their lobby for each donation.
