KAPP-KVEW News Director

Email Matt

Matt joined KAPP/KVEW as news director in August of 2018. He began his career 15 years earlier at KOVR (CBS13) in Sacramento, where he was a production assistant, news writer, associate producer and fill-in producer. He went on to produce KMAX’s Good Day Sacramento and help launch the show’s weekend edition.

In 2007, Matt moved to Seattle to work for KCPQ (Q13). He fell in love with Washington state and spent his spare time exploring and meeting new people. After four years producing Q13 FOX News This Morning, Matt moved back to his native California. He started a family and produced newscasts at KTVU and KRON in the Bay Area, covering events such as the 6.0 South Napa quake (which he felt 50 miles away).

In 2015, Matt moved into management, becoming assistant news director at KSBY. He loved living on California’s Central Coast, where he helped cover a wide variety of local issues on air and online. Matt helped manage two months of breaking news coverage during the state’s largest-ever (at the time) wildfire, the Thomas Fire, and subsequent deadly mudslides in Montecito.

Matt is thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest. He spends his free time with his wife, two sons, and the family dog and cat. You can catch him playing hockey at Toyota Arena and paddling local rivers.
