Body of former Hermiston resident found in canal
LINCOLN CITY, OR — Friday Nov.17 2017 at approx. 12:57 p.m. Gresham Oregon resident Jeanene Beck was reported missing at the Rodeway Inn on 1070 SE 1st Street in Lincoln City.
The former Hermiston resident and her 23-year-old autistic son went out to dinner Thursday night.
According to Beck’s son, she had left the motel room to have a cigarette Thursday night after dinner and never returned.
Lincoln City Police Sgt., Oscar Escalante told KAPP-KVEW that family members and friends traveled to Lincoln City to help search for Beck. Later Friday evening at approximately 9:40 p.m. a female body was located in a canal behind the Roadway Inn.
Members of the Lincoln County Major Crime Scene were called to assist in the investigation. It was later determined that the body was in fact Jeanene Beck.
Upon initial evaluation there were no signs of visible injury on Beck’s body.
Although the cause of death is yet to be determined there is no danger to the public.
An autopsy has been tentatively scheduled for some time Sunday by the Oregon Medical Examiner’s Office.
Further information won’t be available until Monday.
