Boys & Girls Club receives $15,000 donation for STEM education

The Boys & Girls Club of Benton and Franklin Counties received a $15,000 donation for STEM education opportunities for the fifth consecutive year.

The funding comes from a $1 million nationwide donation from U.S. Cellular. It is intended to provide science, technology, engineering and mathematics for students in kindergarten up to seniors. The company has contributed more than $14.5 million to education since 2009.

U.S. Cellular’s Director of Sales, Erryn Andersen, said creating bonds and building connections is something that is continuously at the forefront of the educational outreach efforts.

“Nothing is more fruitful than seeing local youth apply real would concepts from STEM projects and other educational tools that the clubs provide,” Andersen said in a press release.

During U.S. Cellular’s fifth annual “Month of Giving”, they will celebrate National Volunteer Month in April by taking part in a variety of volunteer opportunities. Associates have committed to volunteering 35,000 hours to communities this year alone.
