Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima supports student attendance with bicycle give away
YAKIMA, Wash. — Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima awarded over 700 new bicycles and helmets to students Saturday as part of its Perfect Attendance Creates Excellence (P.A.C.E) Program.
Students who were awarded were from grades K-5 from 23 different participating elementary schools.
All students who were awarded Saturday had to maintain perfect attendance throughout the 2016-2017 school year.
One 8 year-old second grade winner from Barge Lincoln Elementary school expressed her gratitude for the (P.A.C.E) Program.
“I feel very happy and I’m proud that I won this bike today and I have to say thank you to all the people that did this,” Barge Lincoln Elementary student Jaylah Alonson said.
Over three thousand students and family members from the area enjoyed hot dogs, shaved ice, a bouncy house and of course the award ceremony at the Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima facility Saturday afternoon.
So far Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima has awarded over two thousand bicycles to students since starting its (P.A.C.E) Program in 2013, and the general manager says it’s a fulfilling experience every year.
“It’s really been rewarding, it’s a joint effort obviously between our dealership and then all of the schools that we’ve teamed up with over the last few years. To watch the growth from our first year where we were barely giving away 200 bikes to where now we’re giving away over 700 it’s made a huge impact on the schools,” General Manager at Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima Colby Jones said.
According to Jones, Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima raises the majority of the funds but he says it is a continued a joint effort with others in the community as well.
