Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers talks about top issues facing the country during her Washington visit

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers grew up in Kettle Falls, Washington where her family owned an orchard. Growing up, Rodgers said she never imagined she would be a congresswoman, but she now represents the 5th District of Washington state. She is visiting Eastern Washington this week and sat down with KAPP-KVEW in her Walla Walla office to talk about some of the top issues facing the country and the world today, including immigration, healthcare reform, and the current state of world affairs.

Finley plant agrees to pay $650,000 in Clean Water Act case

TRI-CITIES, Wash. (AP) - A metal manufacturer in southern Washington has agreed to pay $650,000 and make improvements to its wastewater treatment systems along the Columbia River to settle a lawsuit brought by a nonprofit organization. 

Benton County Commissioners consider changes to justice center

The Benton County Commissioner's Office is assessing the cost-effectiveness of having a Department of Corrections, independent of the sheriff's office. Benton County Sheriff's Office is currently in charge of maintaining the jail, but District 1 County Commissioner, Jerome Delvin, said he has spoken with six counties across the state that have changed the leadership of their jail systems to be more economic, and allow the sheriff's office to focus on other aspects of law enforcement.
