Police: Hall of Famer Cortez Kennedy found dead

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Hall of Fame defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy has died in Orlando.The Orlando Police Department confirmed that the 48-year-old Kennedy was found dead Tuesday morning. Police public information officer Wanda Miglio says the circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown, but there is nothing suspicious about his death. An investigation is being conducted.

Appeals court declines to reconsider salmon culverts case

SEATTLE (AP) - A federal appeals court has declined to reconsider a ruling that Washington state says will require it to pay nearly $2 billion on salmon habitat.A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last year affirmed a lower court's 2013 ruling ordering the state to fix or replace hundreds of culverts - large pipes that allow streams to pass beneath roads but block migrating salmon.

Bond increased for man charged in lethal meth case

Skin cancer increasing in Washington

OLYMPIA – Washington ranks among the top 10 states for the highest rates of newly diagnosed cancerous melanoma of the skin. According to data from the Washington State Cancer Registry (WSCR), the rates have been increasing by about 2% each year since 2000. During 2010-2014 combined, Jefferson, Island, King, San Juan, Kitsap, Skagit and Snohomish counties had higher rates of newly diagnosed cancerous melanoma of the skin than the state as a whole.

Business owners concerned over mission's expansion in Downtown Pasco
