Child reported missing from Sarg Hubbard Park

Yakima – Police are desperately searching for a 4-year-old reported missing from the play area of a popular local park around 7:15 Saturday evening, just as the sun was setting.  The police department is asking concerned citizens not to come to the park.

YPD Chief Matthew Murray posted an update on Facebook late Saturday night saying the child’s family spent about 15 minutes searching for the 4-year-old before calling 911.  Nearly two dozen YPD officers joined the search, alongside Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies, the YCSO Search and Rescue Team, Emergency Management, and State Patrol troopers.  Investigators used drones to aid in the search, to no avail.  Two hours after the search began, Chief Murray said investigators had bloodhounds “on the way,” and he asked people to stay away from the park and the search area to try and avoid muddling any scent trails that might lead rescuers to the missing child.

Although law enforcement is asking everyone to stay away from the search area, they are also asking you to keep an eye out, and call 911 immediately if you see anything that could help.  The YPD Facebook post says the 4-year-old was last seen wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt with a shark on it.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
