City Manager finalists meet and greet at community receoption
YAKIMA, WA — Community members are introduced to the four Yakima City Manager finalists.
The public got its first chance to meet and greet with the candidates and their family during a community reception at the Yakima Convention Center Monday night.
The four finalists are Othello City Administrator Wade Farris; Former Spokane Valley City Manager Mike Jackson; Thurston County Manager Cliff Moore; and Assistant City Manager Ruth Osuna.
Finalists also got the chance to answer questions from the public; ranging from the downtown plaza, public safety, and economic development.
“I think we have a lot of opportunity here with the [Boise Cascade] mill site property, the downtown phases that are taking place,” said Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce President Verlynn Best, “There’s a lot of opportunity here for development, and we need someone who is going to lead the charge on that.”
Starting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, candidates will take part in interviews at City Hall with the City Council and meet with a citizen panel.
