City of Hermiston seeking consultant team for Funland playground rebuild
HERMISTON, Ore. — The city of Hermiston is taking steps to start the rebuild of its Funland playground.
Back in May, the playground at Butte Park was set on fire and almost completely destroyed. This is the second time the playground was set on fire, with the first being in 1999.
Now, the city is looking for a consultant team to design the new and improved playground. City officials are asking for proposals to have a design that is between 16,000-19,000 square feet, be watermelon-themed and cost a little less than $1 million.
Proposals are due to city hall by July 31. The new Funland playground is expected to be open in July 2020.
