Closing arguments to begin Thursday for trial of former Pasco police officer accused of rape
PASCO, Wash. — Closing arguments for the retrial of Richard Aguirre, the Pasco police officer accused of raping his adult niece will begin Thursday afternoon.
Day three of the trial began with three witnesses taking the stand.
Detective Jacinto “Jason” Nunez, the detective who investigated the alleged rape, Nicholas Ortiz, brother to the alleged victim and Jennifer Ortiz, sister-in-law to the alleged victim and a current Washington State Patrol detective.
After closing arguments the case will be in the hands of the jury.
If found guilty Aguirre faces rape and assault charges.
He is also facing a trial in Spokane for the alleged murder of a prostitute in 1986.
