Community raising money for Prosser murder victim’s funeral costs
PROSSER, Wash. — A GoFundMe account is raising money for the family of a Prosser woman who was murdered on Aug. 10.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says Graciela Gomez was shot and killed by her husband, Silvestre Fuentes Sr., at their home in the 17000 block of N. 1083 PR NW. Fuentes allegedly fled the crime scene in a Ford Bronco before being captured in Union Gap. He’s been charged with first-degree murder.
Gomez’ daughter, Isabel Ramos-Fuentes, created a GoFundMe account to help cover the funeral costs. The account has raised more than $4,000 in four days.
It reads, “[Gomez] was the sweetest, kindest, Loving person ever she didn’t deserved to be taken away from us this way. We are deeply saddened and hurt by her loss. We would like to thank everyone for there kind words and prayers. Many have reached out to us to see how they can help, so that’s why we have created this page to help pay for my mom funeral expenses.”
There will be a celebration of Gomez’ life at Friendship Baptist Church at 1801 Paterson Road in Prosser on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m.
