Controversial anti-pot billboard sparks outrage on social media

A racially targeted anti-marijuana billboard in Yakima is sparking controversy on social media.

“We don’t need pot to have fun,” it reads. “We’re Hispanics…we’re cool by default.”

The billboard is reportedly located on North 1st Street in near Budget Inn. It’s part of the Washington State Department of Health “Listen2YourSelfie” campaign against teens using pot.

One Facebook user sarcastically responded to a photo of the sign, writing “OMG THIS IS NOT REAL!! SERIOUSLY!!,” sarcastically adding, “Let’s divide our cultures some more.”

Another person commented, “Wtf. Really? No one thought twice about this?”

The sign was also posted near the Valley Mall. After numerous complaints from the public, the mall decided to have the health department’s sign removed.
