Couple escapes as fire breaks out at home near Sunnyside

YAKIMA CO., Wash. – A couple escaped a fast-moving fire as it burned their home near Sunnyside to the ground early Thursday morning.

Yakima County Fire District #5 was alerted to the fire around 4 a.m. in the 500 block of Inghem Road in Outlook.

They tell us that a couple living inside the home heard a crashing sound and when they went to find out what it was they found a fire had started outside on the deck.

The couple escaped the home in their bathrobes and lost everything.

They were offered assistance from the Red Cross but decided to stay with family instead.

The home was a total loss, with the estimated cost of the damage at $300,000.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to anyone involved.

The Fire Marshal was notified, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
