Crews recover body from Spokane River
Spokane Police block the pedestrian bridges in Riverfront Park

Authorities say emergency crews recovered a body from the Spokane River after a report that a person went into the water at Spokane Falls.

The Spokane Police Department said in a news release that officers and firefighters responded to a report Monday afternoon of a person going into the water from a footbridge to Canada Island.

A body was later located downstream in the river.

Police are investigating the death and what led to the person being in the water.

The person’s identity has not been released.
