Deputy sent to hospital after being struck in icy road crash on I-182 in Richland
RICHLAND, Wash. — A Benton County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was hit while a deputy was responding to icy road crashes on I-182 in Richland early Thursday morning.
The Washington State Patrol reported that Deputy Randy Lloyd, 39, was parked in the emergency lane with lights activated when a driver struck his vehicle.
The driver who hit him, 56-year-old Michael Householder of Benton City, was cited for driving too fast for the conditions.
Westbound lanes were blocked as fog and icy roads made for dangerous driving conditions.
