Fire destroys clothing store in downtown Pasco

PASCO – No one was hurt after a fire broke out in downtown Pasco Monday. At least two shops have been damaged by the flames.

It happened on the 500 block of Clark Street. Fire crews from Pasco, Kennewick and Franklin County responded just before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly had 4th and 5th street shut down to allow them to tackle the fire.

People were standing outside the Recuerdos Luisa and Curiosidades El Colibrí as firefighters began working the blaze. Pasco Fire Battalion Chief Tom Tveit said firefighters attacked the front side of the building as another crew worked on the back side of the building.

“Whatever was on fire was right inside the windows,” said Battalion Chief Tveit. He said the windows failed and they were able to get the fire out ‘quite quickly.’

There was no extension of fire in the ceiling, or outside of the building, however, it’s possible the buildings may have extensive water damage.

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
