KENNEWICK, Wash. — Fire crews, medics and police rushed to the intersection of W 19th Ave & S Rainier St in Kennewick on Tuesday for reports that two vehicles collided in the roadway, leading one to roll onto private property.

According to a social media alert from the Kennewick Police Department, officers were alerted to the collision on Sept. 27, 2022. They learned that one of the drivers missed a stop sign and drove through the intersection, colliding with another vehicle.

That caused one of the cars to roll off the side of the road, severely damaging the vehicle and injuring the driver, who was trapped inside the car. Eventually, first responders were able to free the victim from the car and transport them to an area hospital for emergency evaluation and treatment.

No further information on the involved drivers’ current condition or identities has been made public. However, the authorities were able to determine that impairment wasn’t a factor in this collision — it appeared to be an accident.

The roadway was blocked off for some time as Kennewick responders cleared the scene, investigated the crash and helped the impacted individuals. It’s unclear whether the roadway has been clear at this time, so out of precaution, you may want to avoid this intersection until later in the day.
