Driver suspected of causing fatal 7-car crash arrested
UPDATE (8:15 p.m.) – WSP has arrested the driver suspected of causing a fatal crash involving seven cars.
According to Trooper Chris Thorson, the driver, Eduardo Lopez, has been booked into Franklin County jail on multiple felony charges.
No other details regarding the arrest were immediately available.
PASCO, Wash. – Washington State Patrol has confirmed the death of one driver in Saturday night’s multi-car crash, and the suspected driver at-fault is on the run.
The driver killed has been identified as 44-year-old Kimberly Youngblood of Benton City. Around 8:30 Saturday night, multiple agencies responded to a large crash on I-182 near Road 68 in Pasco.
Investigators say the unidentified driver hit Youngblood’s car as they were traveling eastbound on I-182. Her car then crossed into westbound traffic and was hit by five other cars.
Youngblood was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three people were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Another was transported to Sacred Heart in Spokane. According to the nursing supervisor at Kadlec, Nalley Lopez is in satisfactory condition. Rosa Valenzuela was treated and released. 48-year-old Michelle Scheurman’s condition is unknown. The man transported to Sacred Heart, Omar Lopez, is in satisfactory condition.
The other drivers and passengers involved were not injured.
When officers got to the scene, the driver of the car suspected of causing the crash was no where to be found. Troopers say the unknown driver’s vehicle is a 2004 blue Chrysler Sebring, which was left at the scene in a ditch. Troopers have not disclosed the driver’s identity.

One vehicle crashed through a homeowner’s fence and stopped in their backyard.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
Traffic was narrowed down to one lane going westbound as police were investigating.
Multiple agencies responded including Pasco Police, Pasco Fire, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin County Fire District #3.
