DUI suspect from Walla Walla crashes into, kills Kennewick driver
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Washington State Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal DUI crash in Benton County.
According to officials, on Friday night, 42-year-old Jesus Chavez of Walla Walla was driving on SR-14, just east of Paterson, when he crossed the centerline and hit another car.
The driver of the other car, 68-year old Manuel Guajardo from Kennewick was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chavez was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
WSP troopers suspect Chavez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Criminal charges are pending.
