Ellensburg New City Manager

Ellensburg New City Manager

John Akers is now the City Manager for Ellensburg.

He has been the interim city manager, but this week Akers took on the full time role.

Akers has already compiled a plan of action for the coming months. First up – he’ll be looking for a replacement for his old position as Public Works Director, finding a Finance Director and getting work on the budget started.

Future plans include expanding the building space that houses the police department, a new community center, plus another project Akers started working on as Public Works Director.

“For quite some time as public works director i’ve been pursuing some flood control work to improve conditions in west ellensburg. We just got a grant to do some of that work and so i’m interested in seeing that through and watching that project unfold,” said Akers

The grant is worth 1.3-million dollars with a 300-thousand dollar matching requirement for the city. Akers officially recieved his new title on Monday.
