Enrollment for citizenship classes now open

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is having an orientation meeting Wednesday night for people who are interested in becoming U.S. Citizens.

The orientation starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Conference Center at the Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic.

The cost to register for the classes are $30 which will cover all of the material used for the classes.

Classes won’t start until January but they do recommend people to sign-up as soon as possible due to the high demand of people signing up.

Program Coordinator at Safe Haven Community Center Salvador Cobar they will be offering the class in English and Spanish.

“We do a bilingual class, people are designated by immigration services as to how they need to take the test,” said Cobar. “Classes are starting in January 7, they’ll be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for 10 consecutive weeks.”

The classes are only for adults and they do ask people to not bring children.
